Google Buzz Hates ShaunK.blog :(

Why? What did I ever do to you Google Buzz?

Try as I might, I can not get Google Buzz to recognize ShaunK.blog. It recognized gigglingcorpse pretty much right away. It’s probably because I never update this place. I should change that, since I have a lot of crap I could write here stored in my brain, I have just been lazy.

Lazy and scorned.

Windows 7 Launch Party

A party was held, for an operating system unlike all others. Except Vista, it’s actually a lot like that one.

Car Insurance In BC

It’s funny how I will spend dozens of hours researching a $200 computer upgrade, but when it comes to renew my car insurance I will just walk in and take whatever they hand to me. Up until now I have always gotten my collision, comprehensive and liability coverage from ICBC. Now I get it from Coast Capital.

Weddings!

Weddings are expensive!

Curse You Microsoft

I wanted the Zune HD quite badly. Unfortunately it isn’t coming to Canada anytime soon. I was excited to port Pizza Deliverator over to it. Rookie mistake Microsoft. Now a competing platform will have it, and you will regret shunning Canada!

Egos and Programmings

Awhile back, on a completely different blog, I discussed the tendency to ridicule others code while simultaneously being self-conscious about our own. As is so often the case, Google has something very smart to say on the matter. Maybe not Google as a whole, but at least two guys who work for Google and were also two out of the three creators of Subversion.

Last.fm is dope IMO

Last.fm is the business in my personal opinion. If you like music a lot, and you find yourself having a hard time finding new stuff, I suggest you check it out.

The Recipricating Gift Fallacy

Why do people give gifts and expect one in return? It is sillyness. I’m just going to come right out and say this: if you give a gift expecting one in return you ride with Hitler.

The xmice

What are the xmice? Basically they are utilities (one command line driven and one with a GUI) that allow you to activate Windows’ ability to let window focus follow the mouse cursor. This lets you do handy things like scroll background windows with your mousewheel, or enter text into them, without bringing them up in front of everything else.

Victory (and little else) is mine!

It was a hard fought battle, but I have officially won my second consecutive game demo contest. I am quite happy, if a little bit surprised, by the result. I had expected Brad’s far superior visuals to trump any gameplay advantage I had. I mean, how could I compete with glowy rocks? They glow for crying out loud!
